Monday

Money Island West Access (formerly Sportsman’s Pier).
Very small surf this morning as our ESE swell has succumbed to a hard N/NE wind. It’s not looking very rideable.
It would be remiss of me not to mention this old favorite spot that used to be the hardcore right-handed counterpart to Oceanana pier. There was a stubby piling to the east side of Sportsmen’s that was the take-off zone… Line up just behind that and you were in the sweet spot for a walled up right; sounds easy, right? It would be if you were lucky enough to catch it before the hungry, local shredders descended on it. It was quite the spot as you could surf (at your own risk) on either side of both piers and catch some magic between the piers. Now that the pier is gone there are the east and west public accesses for foot traffic only as there is no public (legal) parking here. You can park at Oceanana and walk down to it if you see a rogue right peeling down the beach.
